Dr. Tom Hermiz, our Camp President, tendered his resignation to the Camp Board effective February 1, 2025. We would like to thank him for serving Avon Park Camp admirably for 10 years. Tom has demonstrated vision and excellent governance skills with the Camp Board. We have improved financially, and the community has grown spiritually of his instruction and exhortation. We are grateful for Tom and Ella Mae, and trust that they will be able to enjoy more time with their family and friends in Ashville, Ohio.
We have been preparing for his resignation for over six months and have been praying and searching for a suitable replacement. Effective this week, the Camp Board voted to elect Rev. Tom Zile of Hillsboro, Ohio, to be next President of the Avon Park Camp Association. He has accepted the offer and will be installed during the annual Board meeting the first week of February.
Tom and Debbie Zile are currently pastoring the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene in Hillsboro, Ohio, after having pastored CCCU and Nazarene Churches in Florida. In addition to pastoring, he also teaches classes online for his denomination and is adjunct professor for Ohio Christian University and Southern State Community College. We have found Tom to be engaging and compassionate, and we believe the Camp will experience further growth under his leadership.
The Ziles plan to be with us for the Pre-Camp Rally on Sunday, February 2nd, and Tom will be the featured speaker for the evening. Please make every effort to welcome them to the Camp. We will have opportunity to get to know him better as he will be participating throughout the entire camp meeting.
Dale Dorothy, Vice President
