April 2020

From Our President

Greetings in Jesus Name,

I suspect, that due to the Coronavirus some of you are feeling very isolated and lonely. These days remind me of the words of Jesus on the cross, "My God, my God why have you forsaken me?" In that moment Jesus felt alone and even abandoned by His Father as He bore our sins and laid down His life for our redemption. He understands your feelings of loneliness.

When He returned to the Father He sent us the Holy Spirit to be our comforter and counselor. So be assured you may feel lonely but you are not alone. He is WITHIN you!

When you don't know which way to turn He will guide your steps and give you wisdom.

Although these are very different and difficult days I want to remind you, the tomb is empty. The living, resurrected Christ has promised to never leave you or forsake you.

Hopefully, we will worship together on January 31-February 7, 2021. at the Avon Park Holiness camp meeting.

Let's agree, that if we don't meet here we will meet over there where there is no sickness, no pain and no more death. Because He lives we can face tomorrow!

Grace and Peace,
--Thomas H. Hermiz

From our Director of Operations

Our 2019-2020 winter season has officially come to an end here at Avon Park Camp. Most of the winter residents living in the apartments, dormitories and RV park have returned to their homes further north. We’ve had a great time here at the camp over these past five months with various activities and events.

We had a great camp meeting with good attendance and are thankful for victories that were won at the altar. There were weekly Bible Studies, prayer meetings, weekly Friday evening services with a whole host of other activities and events scheduled throughout the season. Of course, we don’t want to minimize the importance of great Christian fellowship among our residents as well.

Dr. Blake Neff taught a series of Bible studies on “Joseph the Overcomer” from January through March. During the last three weeks of the series the venue was moved to the tabernacle in the interest of social distancing due to the corona virus pandemic. Those final three sessions were also live streamed for those who preferred to watch it in their homes. There were 166 people who connected to our live stream during the last Bible study of the series. If you were not able to attend, you should know that they are still available for watching on our website which is avonparkcamp.com. I would encourage you to get on line and watch them.

We are already planning and looking forward to our 2020-2021 season. The evangelists and Bible teacher have been selected for our annual camp meeting. Several of our winter residents are making plans to be back with us again this fall.

We currently have six houses on the grounds that are for sale. We would encourage you to pray with us that the Lord will bring along the right people to make each of these houses a home.

Dale Dorothy
Director of Operations

From our Treasurer

Greetings from the Treasurer's Office,

Thanks so much, faithful supporters of Avon Park Camp! You are doing a great job and I am trusting you and the Lord to continue that which I cannot do as Treasurer. Our contribution total for March was $762 over last year, for a monthly total of $6,708. That at least covers the water/garbage bill. Also, $500 came in as Memorials, as well as $3,532 for Special Projects. See, WE CAN DO IT! Also, six loans were paid off in the amount of $37,454 during January through March.

May the names of the Lord be praised and bless your hearts and your giving.

-- Bonnie Hudson, Treasurer

Please also pray for the leadership of our states, country and the world as we fight covid-19. Remember especially our missionaries serving in locations that often are unable to provide the level of health care we receive in the United States.

God, You alone are worthy of honor, glory, and praise. With You, we can overcome every storm—including the global impact COVID-19 is having on our world.

Right now, we are asking You to:

  • Heal those who are sick and protect those who are not.
  • Give our leaders extra wisdom as they navigate this pandemic and economic uncertainty.
  • Strengthen Your global Church.
  • Reveal to us how we can partner together to reach the needs of those around us.
  • Calm our fears.
  • Fill us with Your hope, joy, and peace as we continue to trust in You.
  • Use this pandemic to pave the way for spiritual renewal.

We want Your glory, power, and healing to be on display.
Come, Lord Jesus, come.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen

The Strange Preacher's Kid

23 He replied to them, “Now is the time for the Son of Man to be glorified. 24 Let me make this clear: A single grain of wheat will never be more than a single grain of wheat unless it drops into the ground and dies. Because then it sprouts and produces a great harvest of wheat—all because one grain died.

25 “The person who loves his life and pampers himself will miss true life! But the one who detaches his life from this world and abandons himself to me, will find true life and enjoy it forever!"
-- John 12:23-25 TPT

He led by example. "He left his throne in glory." He took on the form of a human being. He led the way in selflessness. Through his resurrection he revealed the glory of God: Eternal Life.

Are you living in eternal life? Is Christ in you? Are you in Christ?
