From Our President

Greetings in Jesus Name,

We are now entering not only a New Year but a new decade. I thank God for His continued blessings on the Avon Park Holiness camp meeting.

Many expressed that last year's camp was one of the best in recent years.

Right now our financial status is better than it has been in several years. Last year the Board made some difficult decisions that have proven to be very successful. I want to thank each of you who given generously of your time and resources to make this possible.

We are anticipating another great camp meeting. Our Bible teacher, Dr Chris Bounds is one of most outstanding scholars in the holiness community. Our song evangelist, Brian Arner, has one of the finest voices you will ever hear.

If you will need lodging I urge you to make your reservations as soon as possible. However, the most important thing we can do is to bathe the camp with intercessory prayer.

May the Lord bless you with a happy and healthy New Year.

Grace and Peace,
--Thomas H. Hermiz

From our Director of Operations

Summer has come and gone here at Avon Park Camp and it appears that the fall and winter activities are in full swing with our friends from cooler climates arriving daily.

A lot of effort has gone in to the trimming of shrubs and trees, catching up on a lot of grass trimming as well as general maintenance prior to the beginning of this winter camp season. It is amazing how much day to day maintenance is involved in simply maintaining the buildings during the summer and fall months. We are so grateful for a few volunteers that remained here most of the summer to help care for these details.

Maintenance and housekeeping personnel along with some wonderful volunteers are working feverishly to finish getting apartments and dormitories ready for those coming to spend a part of this camp season with us. Brenda, our office manager, is telling me that all the apartments are reserved for at least part of the winter season. Of course, we maintain a list of those who would like to come providing there are any last-minute cancellations. Most of the RV sites are reserved and we still have some dormitory rooms that are available during the camp meeting in February.

Everyone on the grounds is excited about our upcoming camp meeting which will begin on Sunday evening February the 2nd. Throughout the month of January, special prayer meetings in homes and other locations will be held weekly to pray for the camp meeting and all the workers who will be coming to minister to us.

Dale Dorothy
Director of Operations

From our Treasurer

Greetings from the Treasurer's Office,

Again, in 2019, you have proven your love, concern and support for the Lord and His camp. Thank you for your prayers and gifts. So grateful to be able to close the year with all operational bills paid. The Camp Board has taken action to begin paying off individual loans made to the camp over the last 20 years. As each loan becomes due and as funds are available we will pay back these loans. My request of the Lord is to be able to pay all back in 2020. What a Blessing it would be for the camp to be “debt free” by the end of 2020. The Lord may need to sell a few cattle on some of our hills – smile.

For the last three years we have been basically maintaining the camp with what has been available with very few capital additions. Our 2020 Budget reflects our vision and needs:

BudgetedTotal Needed
New Roof - Morrison Building $18,550
New Roof - Maintenance Building $1,750
Termite Treatment - 2 Buildings $6,000
Air Unit - Tabernacle $5,000$41,600
Conference Room $7,000$11,525
Sound-Video Equipment $1,800$6,300
Dining Hall Sound Control $800

The Board has also specified that projects cannot begin until 80% of the funds are in hand. Probably enough said.

Once again, thank you for your generous supportive action for the camp. May you have blessed memories of 2019 and special heart-warming happenings in 2020.

-- Bonnie Hudson, Treasurer

Printing 3D prosthetics?

In its latest edition of World Gospel Mission's magazine https://www.wgm.org/issue/fall-winter-2019-the-call, The Call, they highlighted a story about C3D, https://www.wgm.org/issue/what-we-do, a ministry that 3D prints prosthetics in Argentina. What began as a one-man operation and a 3D printer built out of spare parts has expanded into a full team who are fully engaged in sharing the love of Christ in creative and tangible ways. C3D has printed and distributed nineteen prosthetics to date and continues to expand.
